Vietnamese and UAE FMs hold talks

(VOVWORLD) -Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son on Wednesday held talks with his United Arab Emirates (UAE) counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan who is on an official visit to Vietnam.

At the talks, the two ministers said Vietnam and the UAE have a lot of potential to further improve cooperation and agreed on measures and plans that need to be coordinated.

Politically, the two sides agreed to increase the exchange of delegations at all levels; actively coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums and promote the role of Vietnam and the UAE in the relationship between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

Minister Son affirmed that Vietnam welcomes the UAE to host the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28). Both agreed to continue promoting the connection of businesses, localities and investment funds and expand cooperation in other potential fields.

On the 30th anniversary of their of diplomatic relations this year, the two sides agreed to coordinate in organizing cultural and sports activities and strengthening people-to-people exchanges to tighten their friendship.

The two ministers witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam and the UAE Diplomatic Academy Anwar Gargash.
