Speaking at the summit, Acting Minister of Industry and Trade Le Manh Hung said Vietnam has committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, as pledged at COP26. To achieve this goal, Vietnam needs close cooperation with international partners, particularly leading global energy technology companies.

Hung said: "The Ministry of Industry and Trade always values cooperation with international businesses and stands ready to support them in the development of Vietnam’s energy system. In the coming period, the ministry will continue advising authorities on improving the legal framework, enhancing the investment environment, and promoting cooperation mechanisms to facilitate deeper participation of enterprises in energy projects in Vietnam."

Roger Martella, Chief Corporate Officer of GE Vernova, said: "Vietnam is one of the most strategic countries in the world when it comes to energy, economic development, and decarbonization. And when we were developing GE Vernova starting about four years ago, our, our leader, Scott Strazik, actually looked to Vietnam as an example for the type of a company we wanted to become."

"Because Vietnam, perhaps more than any other country, works very hard to balance the need to quickly electrify the, the grid to translate that into a way that lifts people up and brings them prosperity, but also adheres to very aggressive goals for decarbonization at the same time. And that's very much the model by which we run GE Vernova and is our mission. So there's much alignment between Vietnam and our company." said Roger.
