The two sides agreed to continue technical discussions and maintain high-level exchanges to make meaningful progress in their negotiations, aiming to establish a stable, long-term framework for economic and trade cooperation.

Minister Dien said Vietnam is prepared to step up coordination with the US to combat trade fraud, origin fraud, and illegal transshipments. He urged Washington to work with Hanoi to address ongoing trade and economic issues, recognize Vietnam as a market economy, and remove Vietnam from export control lists that limit access to high-tech goods. Such steps, he said, will deliver practical benefits to both nations and help improve bilateral trade in a balanced, sustainable, and mutually beneficial direction.

Secretary Lutnick welcomed Vietnam’s efforts and goodwill in advancing talks on a bilateral reciprocal trade deal, and called Vietnam an important and attractive market for US businesses.

As part of his four-day working visit, Mr. Dien also met on Thursday with US Senator Ted Cruz, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce; and Senator Steve Daines, a member of the Senate Committees on Finance and Foreign Relations.

The Minister said Vietnam is ready to work closely with the US on a trade agreement based on mutual respect for sovereignty, balanced interests, and alignment with international commitments and each country’s development level. He expressed hope that the senators will support and advance the process.
