(VOVworld)- A meeting to prepare for the 35th anniversary of the victory over genocide in Cambodia opened in Hanoi on Monday. In his address, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan said the meeting will comprise of a celebration of the victory in Vietnam's Southwestern border and the victory over the Genocide in Cambodia. Nhan highlighted the importance of the victory in the Southwestern border, saying that with assistance from Vietnamese voluntary soldiers, the Cambodian United Front for National Salvation overthrew the genocidal regime in Cambodia on January 7, 1979. This event marked an important milestone in the Vietnamese-Cambodian relationship. Nhan said the meeting will be held on January 5. He asked relevant ministries and agencies to make the event a success.
