I had the honor,invited by the Vietnamese Embassy in Romania, of attending the 3rd Asian Culture Festival at the Dimitrie Gusti National Village Museum in Bucharest, and I found it to be not only a colorful celebration of Asia’s rich and diverse heritage but also a meaningful occasion to strengthen bonds of friendship and cooperation between Romania and the countries of Asia. With the participation of 14 nations, the event once again confirmed the unique role of cultural diplomacy in fostering mutual understanding and bringing peoples closer together.
Among all the delegations, I was particularly impressed by Vietnam’s presence, which left a strong and lasting impression on me and many others. The Vietnamese pavilion stood out with its warm hospitality and a program that was both well-prepared and artistically rich. I had the chance to taste authentic Vietnamese dishes, admire intricate handicrafts, and discover specialty products that reflected the creativity, skill, and resourcefulness of the Vietnamese people. These displays were more than just enjoyable; they offered a genuine glimpse into the history, daily life, and enduring cultural values that define Vietnam’s national identity.The cultural performances were equally memorable. Watching the graceful ao dai presentations reminded me of the timeless charm of Vietnamese traditions, while the folk dances and the evocative performance of “The Full-Moon Night Festival” conveyed a deep sense of community, joy, and harmony. The Romanian audience responded warmly and enthusiastically, showing admiration for Vietnam’s culture and an appreciation for the values of family, solidarity, and resilience that were beautifully expressed on stage.
For me, the festival went beyond cultural exchange. It also opened up reflections on how such events can create new opportunities for cooperation in economics, trade, education, and tourism. Vietnam’s active and engaging participation reaffirmed its commitment to fostering stronger ties not only with Romania but also with the wider international community. At the same time, it showcased the country as a dynamic, hospitable, and forward-looking nation that remains deeply proud of its traditions.
Leaving the festival, I felt once again how essential cultural exchange is to diplomacy. When nurtured with sincerity and mutual respect, culture becomes a bridge of trust and a source of enduring friendship between nations. Vietnam’s contribution to this festival was a perfect example of that spirit, highlighting the richness of its traditions and its openness to dialogue, while contributing meaningfully to the atmosphere of unity, friendship, and international solidarity that defined the entire event.
