(VOVworld) – The 131^st Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly wrapped up on Thursday after electing Bangladeshi parliamentarian Saber Chowdhury the new IPU President.

Addressing the closing session, Vietnamese National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong shared the Vietnamese National Assembly’s honor by hosting the IPU summit next year as an international recognition of Vietnam’s contribution to IPU activities:
“2015 marks an important milestone as the international community reviews its implementation of UN Millennium Development Goals and begins to implement Sustainable Development Goals. We propose that the topic for the 132^nd IPU Assembly General Debate is ‘Parliaments and the implementation of post-2015 Sustainable Development program.’”
