President of VUFO Nguyen Phuong Nga said she hopes journalists will continue to spread the Union's activities and people to people diplomacy.

At a similar event on Monday in Lao Cai province, Chairman of the provincial People's Council Vu Xuan Cuong expected press agencies to continue to reflect the life, culture, society, and economic development of the province, and focus more on promoting local uniqueness.

The Thanh Hoa provincial authority on Monday urged local press agencies and the Journalists Association to be innovative in their activities. The winners of the Tran Mai Ninh press awards were announced on the occasion.

At a gathering on Monday, Vice Chairwoman Ngo Thi Kim Yen of the Da Nang People's Committee said Da Nang now has 108 press agencies and the city is becoming one of the major press hubs in Vietnam. The city leaders said they look forward to more quality journalism as well as candid and constructive opinions from local press agencies.
