(VOVworld) – Vietnam is committed to protecting and promoting freedom of religion and belief, according to Ambassador Nguyen Trung Thanh, Vietnam’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, the World Trade Organization and other international organizations based in Geneva, Switzerland.

At a dialogue Wednesday with special UN reporters on religious freedom and human rights protection in a time of counter-terrorism, Thanh said Vietnam hails the new comprehensive approach of the UN Human Rights Council and the international community to eliminate religious hatred and terrorism.

Thanh’s remarks reflect the freedom of religion and belief in Vietnam, where 95% of the population follow Buddhism, Christianity, or Islam.
