Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, the Vietnamese Permanent Representative to the United Nations

Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, the Vietnamese Permanent Representative to the United Nations, said the UN’s 2030 development agenda and sustainable development goals should develop indicators and a database about disabilities to support policy development, implementation, and monitoring with the participation of persons with disabilities.
Ms. Nga said Vietnam has 7.2 million persons with disabilities and the Vietnamese Government attaches great importance to bettering the lives and protecting and promoting their rights.

Vietnam is doing its best to implement laws and policies to support people with disabilities in healthcare, inclusive and equitable education, employment, accessibility to public services, legal services, cultural and sport activities.

The Vietnamese Government always encourages the multi-stakeholder approach in assisting people with disabilities while associations and organisations of the disabled are actively engaging in policy planning and implementation.
