As scheduled, Vietnam will begin to send forces to join the UN mission from this year, starting with staff and medical officers, and engineers. In preparation for this task, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has cooperated closely with the Ministry of Defense and other relevant agencies to thoroughly study any related matters to consult the Party and government leaders on the issue, especially in compiling a draft resolution on Vietnam’s participation in any UN peace-keeping force. Deputy Foreign Minister Ha Kim Ngoc said: "Today’s seminar is of great importance to us to discuss the issue and listen to different opinions, not only from representatives of related ministries and agencies, but also from researchers and experts on major issues such as principles, objectives, and guidelines for joining UN forces. Recommendations collected at seminar will help us to complete the draft resolution and begin Vietnam’s participation in the mission as scheduled."
