At a ceremony in Antakya, the capital of Hatay province, Major General Pham Van Ty, head of the rescue team, said the aid goods are the affection and sharing of the people, the country and the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam for the tremendous loss of life and property of the Turkish people. He said he hopes that Turkey will soon overcome the consequences of the February 6 earthquake.
Turkish Ambassador Hakan Cakil expressed his deep gratitude for the support of the Vietnamese People's Army, saying the aid will be quickly delivered to local hospitals and medical support centers to serve emergency relief and treat patients.
As of Wednesday morning, the magnitude 7.8 earthquake, which struck Turkey and Syria two weeks ago, had killed more than 47,000 people.
