Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Hoang Giang met with Adina Kamarudin, Director General of the Maritime Affairs Department of Malaysia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Nushirwan Zainal Abidin, Director General and Chief of Staff of the National Security Council of Malaysia.

Mr. Giang reviewed Vietnam’s progress in combating IUU fishing, including improvements in the legal framework, tighter control of fishing vessels, better seafood traceability, stronger maritime patrols, and stricter penalties for serious violations. He reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to stopping IUU fishing and promoting sustainable fisheries.

Both sides stressed the need to continue close cooperation, share information on fishing vessels and fishermen involved in violations, and expand people-to-people exchanges in tourism and education.
