(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam and Malaysia aim to raise bilateral trade to 18 billion USD in a balanced manner, said Vietnam National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim during their held talks in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.

The two leaders explored measures to further strengthen bilateral ties, with a focus on consolidating political trust through exchanges of high-level and other delegations, and boosting economic and investment cooperation.

They agreed to strengthen collaboration in energy, oil and gas, science and technology, digital transformation, innovation, AI, fisheries, and the Halal industry, while actively participating in projects under the ASEAN Power Grid (APG).

Chairman Man urged to soon adopt the Action Program on implementing the Vietnam–Malaysia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership through 2030, and to accelerate green energy projects and trilateral cooperation on exporting renewable electricity from Vietnam to Malaysia and Singapore.

He affirmed that the Vietnamese National Assembly will work closely with the Malaysian Parliament and other regional legislatures to further strengthen the role of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) in advancing regional integration and connectivity, amplifying the voice of the people, promoting people-to-people exchanges, and supporting the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
