The trip is made at the invitation of Speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives and AIPA-46 President Dato’ Johari Bin Abdul, and President of the Malaysian Senate Dato’ Awang Bemee Awang Ali Basah.
NA Chairman Man’s official visit to Malaysia affirms Vietnam’s determination to advance the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Malaysia in a deeper, more substantive, and effective manner. It also underscores Vietnam’s consistent policy of attaching great importance to relations with neighboring countries and ASEAN, including Malaysia, one of Vietnam’s leading economic partners. It reaffirms Vietnam’s commitment to working with Malaysia and other ASEAN members to build a sustainable, inclusive, united, and strong ASEAN Community, thereby strengthening ASEAN’s central role in the regional architecture.
At the 46th AIPA General Assembly, Vietnam will put forward proposals and initiatives to further promote regional cooperation and the role and contribution of parliamentary diplomacy. Don Tuan Phong, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly’s Committee for National Defense, Security and External Relations, said National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man will attend the plenary session and deliver a key note speech.
“The Chairman is expected to highlight the role of ASEAN parliaments in promoting inclusive and sustainable goals, in line with the vision of building the ASEAN Community by 2045. He will encourage active participation and close coordination among ASEAN parliaments to jointly build a sustainable community and strengthen cooperation with regional and global partners. The Chairman is also expected to emphasize Vietnam’s position on intra-bloc cooperation, parliamentary work in the region and the world, and put forward recommendations to enhance the role of parliaments in building the ASEAN Community in the coming years, toward the ASEAN Vision 2045.”
