The Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations held a ceremony in Hanoi on Monday to mark the 10th anniversary of its traditional day (May 27) and receive the third-class Fatherland Protection Order. Over the past 10 years, Vietnam has made great strides in participating in United Nations peacekeeping operations.

Vietnam's level 2 field hospital in South Sudan with highly qualified and dedicated doctors and nurses has become a credible healthcare facility in the area.

Two years ago, for the first time, Vietnam sent an engineering team to the Abyei Area on the border between South Sudan and Sudan, creating a breakthrough for Vietnam’s participation in UN peacekeeping mission. Vietnamese units all met the UN’s criteria and standards well.

At the ceremony, the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping and the Engineering Unit Rotation 1 were honored with the third-class Fatherland Protection Order. Level-2 Field Hospital Rotation 4 and Col. Mac Duc Trong, head of Engineering Unit Rotation 1, were presented with certificates of merit from the Prime Minister.
