In his remarks, Deputy Prime Minister Binh warned of more complicated human trafficking crimes and attributed the situation to armed conflicts, political instability, natural disasters, pandemics, rising labor demand, and increasing global integration, all of which have made it easier for traffickers to lure victims.

“All levels, sectors, communities, and every citizen must unite, raise awareness, take the initiative, closely coordinate, and participate in preventing and combatting human trafficking, thus building an orderly and disciplined society,” said Mr. Binh.

Themed "Human trafficking is an organized crime – Let's end the exploitation", the event is in response to the World Day against Trafficking in Persons and Vietnam’s Day for All People to Prevent Trafficking in Persons, July 30.

Between 800,000 and 1 million people are trafficked worldwide each year, according to data from the United Nations and the International Labour Organization.

From 2020 to 2023, 200,000 victims were identified, but the actual number is likely much higher, as the majority of cases are unreported.
