The statement was made by Major General Pham Ngoc Viet, head of the Department of Homeland Security at the Ministry of Public Security while attending the 4-day UN high-level conference of heads of counter-terrorism agencies of member states which began Monday in New York.

According to General Viet, the  attacks in Vietnam’s Central Highlands province of Dak Lak, were an organized terrorist operation, in which attackers armed with weapons acted with reckless, barbaric, and inhumane violence.

Vietnam strongly condemns individuals and organizations who back and direct such attacks as well as the attackers themselves, he said. Vietnam is calling on countries and international organizations to support and cooperate closely with Vietnam in investigating this incident.

The fight against terrorism requires the joint efforts of the international community, General Viet said, adding that only through solidarity, cooperation, and shared responsibility can we effectively end international terrorist threats and ensure peace and security for every country.
