(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Saturday chaired the government’s monthly meeting to discuss the socio-economic situation in May and in the first five months of this year as well as many other economic issues.

PM Chinh said that te socio-economic situation in May continued its positive trend, achieving better results than in April.

"Growth was reported in industry, agriculture, and services. The macroeconomy remained stable, with controlled inflation and ensured major balances. Proactive measures were taken to ensure electricity supply during hot weather, and strategic transport and energy infrastructure projects have been promoted," said the PM.

He added: "The 500 kV circuit 3 transmission line project is expected to be completed by the end of June. Additionally, progress was recorded in culture, society, institutional building, anti-corruption efforts, defense, security, and foreign affairs. People's lives have improved, and Vietnam's prestige and international standing continue to rise."

The Prime Minister proposed strengthening innovative management to ensure political and social stability, enhancing foreign affairs and international integration, and boosting communications to create social consensus.

Regarding macroeconomic management, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to continue operating monetary policy in a proactive, flexible, timely, and effective manner.

He stressed the importance of creating favorable conditions for businesses and individuals to access credit, vigorously promoting the disbursement of public investment capital, and focusing on cultural, social, and environmental fields to ensure social security and improve people's lives.
