At the Huu Nghi Quan border gate between Vietnam and Guangxi, China, systems for QR code scanning, facial recognition, and fingerprint identification have been deployed, allowing drivers to complete immigration procedures in about 15 seconds. In 2024 the number of vehicles cleared through Vietnam–China border gates reached a record 3,300 vehicles per day—double the figure in 2019.
In addition, unmanned trucks, smart cranes, 5G technology, and the navigation system have been deployed, making border gate operations largely automated and moving toward 24/7 operation. China’s first cross-border smart checkpoint model is delivering efficiency and will continue to expand.
