Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen welcomed the establishment of the CPTPP-EU Trade and Investment Dialogue, calling it an important step in linking two of the world’s most dynamic economic regions and reinforcing an open, fair, and rules-based global trade order.
PM Chinh underlined the importance of building stronger cooperation between the CPTPP and the EU and emphasized the need to accelerate work on a formal cooperation framework. He said Vietnam is making thorough preparations for its rotating chairmanship of the CPTPP in 2026 and hopes to receive active support from member economies.
Vietnam, he noted, will inherit and advance the bloc’s achievements while working with partners to make the CPTPP more dynamic, substantive, and effective in promoting intra-bloc trade.
He said that fostering the CPTPP-EU Trade and Investment Dialogue will be one of Vietnam’s top priorities during its 2026 chairmanship.
The Canadian and EC leaders welcomed Vietnam’s upcoming role as CPTPP Chair and affirmed their readiness to work closely with Vietnam to ensure the success of its chairmanship, particularly in promoting trade and investment among CPTPP members and between the CPTPP and its partners.
