The event was held by the "Yeu Tieng Viet" School and the Association of Vietnamese Experts and Scholars in Queensland (AVESQ). On display were creative paintings on silk, conical hats, and recycled bottles.
Hoang Thi Thu Thuy, the co-founder of the "Yeu Tieng Viet" School, an online Vietnamese course for children, explained the mission of helping young Vietnamese around the world take pride in their roots and nurture their confidence in themselves. This will enable them to develop in the best ways possible, she said, adding, "we also try to connect Vietnamese youth around the world and help them connect with their homeland. This exhibition is a part of that effort."
The school raised a total of 4,560 USD through auctions and sales of the children's artworks, artist Mai Trinh's hand-painted ao dai, and sponsored vouchers.
All proceeds will go to victims of the recent storms and floods in Vietnam through the Australasia Social Impact Foundation and the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
