The new border gate will connect the Vietnamese and Cambodian economies and facilitate trade and tourism activities.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony co-chaired by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said, “The Vietnam–Cambodia border is not only a territorial demarcation line but also a bridge for exchanges, friendship, and long-term, sustainable cooperation. It demonstrates the close neighborliness and the deep bond shared between the two countries and peoples.”
“The inauguration of the Tan Nam–Meun Chey International Border Gate today will create new momentum for the two to soon complete border demarcation and marker planting for the remaining 16% of the borderline yet to be finalized,” according to Mr. Chinh.
He added, “It will also pave the way for the development of additional international border gate pairs along the Vietnam–Cambodia land border, towards raising bilateral trade turnover to 20 billion USD in the coming years.”

The Cambodian Prime Minister called on authorities of Prey Veng province in Cambodia and Tay Ninh province in Vietnam to continue working closely together to facilitate the flow of goods, services, and business activities, especially in high-potential sectors such as agriculture, industry, and export-oriented processing. He emphasized the need to prevent and combat cross-border crime.
Earlier, the two Prime Ministers held talks to review the progress of bilateral cooperation and discuss measures to forge closer ties.
