The 4-day event was co-chaired by Deputy Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Trade Michelle Chan and Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Manh Cuong.
The dialogue highlighted a deepening strategic trust in political and defense-security cooperation, based on which both sides agreed to coordinate preparations for upcoming high-level exchanges and mechanisms, including a foreign ministers’ meeting and a defense policy dialogue.

Economically, the two countries will continue realizing Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040 and the Enhanced Economic Engagement Strategy between Vietnam and Australia, while finalizing a Memorandum of Understanding on the digital economy and preparing for the first ministerial dialogue on energy and minerals.
In sci-tech and innovation, both sides promised to advance the Australia–Vietnam Innovation Partnership program (Aus4Innovation), and pledged to strengthen university and research ties, promote academic exchanges for students and doctoral researchers, and foster joint research to drive innovation.
