(VOVworld) – The Venezuelan opposition alliance, Democratic Unity Roundtable (MUD), has suspended working group-level talks with the government because of mass arrests of student protesters last week.

Their boycotting move remains despite the government’s release of most of the arrested students last week. President Nicolas Maduro’s government and the moderate wing of the MUD have established committees to review the cases of detained opposition leaders and students, and to investigate protest violence.

The government and the opposition are scheduled to continue meetings to decide on matters related to amnesty, decentralization, and appointments of members for the truth commission.
