Venezuelan government, opposition move forward on dialogue

(VOVworld) - Venezuela's government and opposition representatives have met for the first time for a dialogue aimed at resolving the political conflict after two months of protests that have left 41 people dead and hundreds more injured.

Speaking after the dialogue, Venezuelan Vice President Jorge Arreaza said if the two sides cooperate with each other, they can reach agreement on a number of the country’s important issues. Mr. Arreaza said Venezuelan government has approved 148 projects for 74 mayoralties and states administered by the opposition for a total of 167 million USD. Moreover, President Nicolas Maduro’s administration also agreed to add more individuals to the board to investigate the disorder situation in Venezuela as proposed by the opposition.

Meanwhile, Ramon Guillermo Aveledo, a representative of the opposition said the opposition is ready to join the government to solve the conflicts. He added the opposition also strongly criticized violence in protests according to the order of President Maduro’s administration.
