Bessent said he expects a series of trade deals to be reached ahead of the deadline. Otherwise, the temporary 10% tariff the Trump administration is imposing will revert to the 11-50% level announced on April 2.

White House National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett said Monday that US-Canada trade talks will resume immediately, following Ottawa’s move to cancel its digital services tax (DST) that targets US technology firms.

Hassett told Fox News that Canada has given its consent, paving the way for the resumption of trade negotiations between the two countries.
