The statement came 2 days after Meng Wanzhou, the CFO of Chinese telecom giant Huawei and the daughter of its founder, was arrested in Vancouver on charges of violating US sanctions against Iran. US President Donald Trump said he is optimistic about negotiations with China despite worries that the arrest could harm the bilateral relationship.
