Lisa Monaco, Obama’s counterterrorism and homeland security adviser, said the assessment in the coming weeks will realize a commitment to transparency for the US drone program to maintain the legitimacy of US counterterrorism actions and the broad support of its allies.

The report will include the latest figures from all intelligence sources and human rights groups that have been observing US drone strikes and counterterrorism operations. Drones, the US’s key tool in fighting terrorism, have been accused of killing civilians in Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, and Lybia.
