(VOVworld) – US District Judge George O’Toole said Wednesday that the Federal court has sentenced Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev to death by lethal injection for his role in the 2013 attack on the Boston Marathon that killed three people and injured 264.

Judge O’Toole said that Tsarnaev need to be punished for the crime he created. This is the first death sentences in Massachusets for the last 70 years.

At the final court hearing speech, Tsarnaev apologized victims of the bombing and asked for their forgiveness. This is the first time he has raised his voice before court.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, born in Chechnya and migrated to the US in 2002 has kicked off 2 bombs, together with his brother Tamerlan Tsarnaev, at the annual Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013.

Tamerlan was shot dead by the police right after the bombing. Tsarnaev escaped and was arrested four days later in seriously injured condition.

Tsarnaev was also charged of shooting dead a police at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology while he was running for life.
