Sullivan said President Joe Biden will discuss top foreign policy issues when he meets with President-elect Trump Wednesday in the Oval Office. Biden will explain to Trump how he sees things and find out how Trump is thinking about addressing these issues when he takes office.

Sullivan said a prime goal of the Biden administration in its remaining months is to put Ukraine in the strongest possible position on the battlefield so that it will be in the strongest possible position at the negotiating table.

Under the Biden administration, the US has been the biggest provider of military and financial aid to Ukraine. The US leads a coalition of more than 50 countries supporting Ukraine in its conflict with Russia.

During his election campaign, Trump repeatedly said he could end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine “in a day”, though he didn’t explain exactly how he would do it.
