(VOVworld) – On Monday UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon called on the warring parties in Yemen to resume peace talks. Ban told reporters in Doha, Qatar, that he strongly condemns Houthi rebels for using force to take power and that he was deeply concerned about the military escalation there. He called for efforts to prevent Yemen’s internal crisis from spreading into the wider regional conflict.

There has been no sign of de-escalation of violence since the Saudi-led Arab coalition began airstrikes 2 weeks ago in an attempt to stop the Houthi’s advance. The situation has prompted some countries to evacuate their citizens.
