(VOVworld) – UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon welcomed a South Korean proposal to restart direct negotiations between Seoul and Pyongyang in January and urged North Korea to accept this proposal soon.

Earlier in the day, South Korea’s Unification Minister proposed high-level talks between the two Koreas to discuss a peaceful unification. Seoul hopes Pyongyang will respond positively to its proposal. Ban Ki Moon said he sincerely hopes North Korean authorities will consider the proposal and engage in dialogue, adding that he will spare no effort to support any meaningful engagement.
