In his first statement after the Trump administration's temporary suspension of military aid to Ukraine, President Zelensky expressed regret over his meeting with Trump at the White House last week and pledged to sign a mineral deal with the US.
The Ukrainian leader further emphasized that a "ceasefire" in the air and at sea would be the first step to end the conflict that has lasted for more than three years.
Also on Wednesday, French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed President Zelensky's willingness to re-engage in dialogue with President Trump. Macron reaffirmed France's commitment to working with all relevant parties to achieve lasting peace in Ukraine.
