The meeting took place one day after the government’s decision to discharge 149 military officers for their alleged role in the failed coup on July 15.
They include 87 marine generals, 30 air-force generals and 32 admirals. Two other senior generals, Kamil Basoglu and Ihsan Uyar, both high-ranking members of the land forces, resigned from the armed forces. It was not immediately clear why they had resigned.
