The two had planned to meet at last week’s G7 summit in Canada, but the meeting was canceled due to Trump’s early return to Washington. Zelenskiy's office had mentioned three priorities for that meeting: a proposal to buy US Patriot missiles, a discussion of more sanctions against Russia, and a discussion of other ways to increase pressure on President Putin.
US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker said Monday that there is no military solution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and the US will continue to maintain high-level contact with both sides to promote a peaceful solution.
