"Switzerland combines neutrality with a humanitarian tradition," Cassis said during a televised rally in Bern. " It is ready to play the role of a mediator behind the scenes or host negotiations," he added.
Switzerland, which is not a member of the European Union, has supported sanctions against Russia in response to Moscow's special military operation in Ukraine.
Switzerland is included in the list of foreign countries and territories that have carried out unfriendly actions against Russia, Russian companies and citizens approved by the Kremlin on March 7.
