Earlier the same day, President Luong Cuong visited the headquarters of the People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) and held talks with the party’s Vice President Mara Quiosa. As part of the visit, the President, his spouse, and the Vietnamese delegation toured the Angola Military History Museum.
Also on Friday, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son met with leaders of Angola's Agency for Private Investment and Exports Promotion (AIPEX), the National Agency for Oil, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG), the state oil company Sonangol, as well as representatives of Xuan Thien Group, a Vietnamese corporation with several successful investment projects in Angola.
During his State visit to Angola, President Luong Cuong held talks with President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, met with National Assembly Speaker Carolina Cerqueira, worked with MPLA leaders, met with the Vietnamese community in Angola, and attended a ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries. Notably, he delivered an important address at a special plenary session of the Angolan National Assembly, sharing Vietnam’s policy of contributing more actively to global politics, the world economy, and human civilization, while outlining directions to strengthen traditional friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
The visit from August 6–9, 2025, received extensive coverage from Angola’s major media outlets, including Jornal de Angola, the national news agency ANGOP, and broadcasters such as Televisão Pública de Angola (TPA) and Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA). Reports emphasized the historic significance of the visit in the context of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations (November 12, 1975 – November 12, 2025) and praised the potential for bilateral cooperation in economic, trade, and cultural exchange.
