The national poll results were announced by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism at a ceremony on Thursday evening. The poll, first conducted in 1978, involved more than 200 sports journalists nationwide, who voted for the top 10 athletes, 5 coaches, and 3 teams, as well as outstanding figures in sports for the disabled.

The second and third spots in the Top Athlete category went to billiards player Tran Quyet Chien and volleyball player Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen.

In the Coach-of-the-Year category, national women’s volleyball team coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet topped the list, followed by billiards coach Nguyen Viet Hoa and women’s futsal coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang.

The national women's indoor volleyball team was honored as the Outstanding Sports Team of 2024. The next two positions went to the national women's futsal team and the women's 4x400-meter relay team.

Weightlifter Le Van Cong led the voting for Outstanding Athlete with Disabilities. Weightlifting coach Le Quang Thai was honored as the Outstanding Disability Sports Coach.
