PM Pham Minh Chinh speaks at the conference on agriculture development, Hanoi, December 27, 2024. |
At Friday’s conference in Hanoi to review the sector’s performance this year and discuss plans for next year, PM Chinh suggested measures to position Vietnam as a leader in modern, sustainable, responsible, transparent, and green agriculture.
He underlined the need to improve planning, strategies, and institutions to address policy bottlenecks for rapid and sustainable agricultural and rural development.
Efforts should be made to promote science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation to support green and circular economies, the PM said, adding that it is important to focus on combating climate change in critical areas prone to subsidence, erosion, drought, and flooding.
“Farmers should be more prosperous, rural areas should be further modernized, and agriculture should further advance,” said PM Chinh.
