The school, which covers 5 hectares and will be able to serve more than 1,200 students, has a total investment of more than 8 million USD. The project, to be carried out between 2025 and 2026, will include classrooms, a library, dormitories, staff housing, a canteen, storage facilities, and sports areas.

“When the school is completed, the learning environment for students will be much better," Nguyen Quoc Cuong, Principal of Phieng Khoai Secondary School, said. "They’ll be able to stay and eat at school, which will make it easier for teachers to take care of them and will ease the burden on parents. Travel will also be more convenient, since many students live far away. With boarding, they will have the conditions they need to learn, live and grow more fully.”

At the ceremony, Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Son La provincial People’s Committee Trang Thi Xuan stressed the importance of the project.

“For the project to be finished on time and support the Party’s policy, all levels and sectors must see it’s a key political task. Construction needs to be well-organized, efficient and fast, with site clearance, infrastructure, and funding completed on schedule. We must create the best possible conditions for the construction units. As the Party General Secretary has said, this is a project of the people’s hearts, for the future of our children, and it must not be delayed,” Ms Xuan said.
