In Thursday’s televised address to the Russian people, President Vladimir Putin confirmed that Moscow had used the new hypersonic Oreshnik intermediate-range ballistic missile, in response to Ukraine’s attack.
On Friday, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz once again voiced his opposition to sending Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine. “As Social Democrats, we have said we do not want to supply cruise missiles to Ukraine that can be fired far into Russian territory. And we have also said we will not provide clearance for the advanced weapons we have supplied to be used in such a way,” he said.
