(VOVWORLD) - John Tinniswood, the world’s oldest man, passed away on Monday at the age of 112, Guinness World Records confirmed on November 26. He died at a nursing home in Southport, Northwest England, according to his family.

Born on August 26, 1912, in Liverpool—the same year as the Titanic disaster—Mr. Tinniswood lived through two world wars, the 1918 flu pandemic, and the COVID-19 pandemic. He also held the distinction of being the oldest living World War II veteran.

In April 2024, Guinness World Records officially recognized Mr. Tinniswood as the world’s oldest man following the passing of 114-year-old Juan Vicente Pérez of Venezuela.
