Russian President Vladimir Putin told Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Son after receiving his credentials on Wednesday: “Russians and Vietnamese are bound by their traditional friendship. Consolidating the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership will serve both countries’ long-term interest. We are enhancing cooperation in the energy sector, including oil, gas, and nuclear energy for peaceful uses. Both countries are working toward a free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan. We are looking forward to Vietnamese Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong’s visit to Russia next week.”
