Ilya Usov said with priority given to furthering cooperation with the Asia-Pacific in the coming years, Russia is making changes in its diplomatic policies. At a recent East Asia Summit in Naypyidaw, Myanmar, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev took Vietnam as a model example, saying that if Vietnam succeeds in connecting with the Free Trade Area of the Customs Union, including Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus, this experience could be expanded to other countries in Southeast Asia. Ilya Usov said Vietnam’s economy is on the rise. Vietnam’s security markets have seen growth in the first 9 months of this year with the VN-Index and HNX-Index increasing by 19.9 percent and 30.4 percent respectively compared to late last year, ranking 5th among the world’s fastest developed markets. The article said that, according to the forecast from the world’s major research institutes, Vietnam’s GDP growth rate is likely to reach 6 percent in 2015 and 7 percent in the period 2016-2017. It concluded that Russia would benefit from expanding links with countries in the Asian Pacific region, including Vietnam.
