All fishing vessels of 15 metres or longer have connected to Vessel Monitoring Systems (VMS), ensuring strict control over offshore fishing activities.
For many consecutive years, Quang Ninh has recorded no cases of fishing vessels encroaching on foreign waters.
Quang Ninh is also upgrading infrastructure, completing its network of fishing ports and marine protected areas, while promoting a transition toward high-tech mariculture, fisheries logistics services, and eco-tourism, with the goal of building a modern and sustainable fishery sector.
Phan Thanh Nghi, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment, said the immediate task is to raise the implementation rate of the electronic catch documentation and traceability (e-CDT) system to 100% in the first quarter of this year.
“The e-CDT software has been in operation for nearly two years,” Nghi explained, adding, “Recently, the Quang Ninh Provincial Committee has issued directives and dispatched an inspection team led by the Department of Home Affairs to review the responsibilities of organizations and individuals that have not strictly complied with the requirements. We are striving to meet the set target in the first quarter of 2026.”
