President arrives in Santiago, visits Vietnamese community in Chile

(VOVWORLD) -Vietnamese President Luong Cuong and the high-ranking delegation arrived at the Arturo M. Benitez International Airport in Santiago on Saturday afternoon (local time), commencing their official visit to Chile at the invitation of Chilean President Gabriel Boric Font.

Those welcoming the delegation at the airport included Chilean Minister of Foreign Affairs Alberto van Klaveren Stork, Chilean Ambassador to Vietnam Sergio Narea, officials of the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnamese Ambassador to Chile Nguyen Viet Cuong alongside Vietnamese Embassy staff in the Latin American nation. This is the first visit to Chile by a Vietnamese State President in 15 years.

Shortly after arriving in the capital Santiago de Chile, President Luong Cuong visited the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Chile. He emphasized that the Party and State always care about and consider the Vietnamese community abroad as an inseparable part, a resource of the national community and an important factor contributing to strengthening cooperation and friendship between Vietnam and other countries.

The President proposed that the Embassy continue to promote its role as a bridge to deepen the special relationship between Vietnam and Chile. He said he hopes that the Vietnamese community in Chile will always be united, maintain close relationships, and enthusiastically participate in activities towards their roots.
