PM Chinh said Noru is heading towards the central region, adding that apart from strong winds, the typhoon will bring heavy rains along, so it is also important to cope with post-storm landslides and floods.

The PM demanded localities step up calling on fishermen and vessels to seek shelters; ensure safety for aquaculture farms, people’s livelihoods, students, and tourists; and protect heritage sites, infrastructure, and economic facilities to minimize damage.

The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that at 4 am on Tuesday, the eye of the storm was about 470 km east of the coasts from Thua Thien Hue to Binh Dinh province with gust's speed of up to 25km per hour.

Localities have urgently relocated households in coastal areas and called for boats to shelter. Provinces from Quang Binh to Khanh Hoa have issued a ban on the sea. Quang Nam has evacuated more than 1,000 people and schools in dangerous areas will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. In Binh Dinh province, in addition to relocating nearly 19,000 households of 65,000 people to a safe place, the Provincial People's Committee set up teams to inspect the prevention and control of typhoon Noru in districts and towns.
