PM calls for more infrastructure, clean energy investment from Chinese firms

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received leaders of some leading infrastructure, energy, and environment enterprises from China while in Beijing on Thursday, as part of his trip to attend  the 15th Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum.

At a reception for Yan Jiehe, founder of the China Pacific Construction Group (CPCG), and other executives of the firm, PM Chinh asked the Group to continue coordinating with Vietnamese ministries, sectors, and localities to seek new investment opportunities and to expand operations in Vietnam.

Yan said the CPCG, a world-leading private business in the construction sector, has participated in the building of Tu Lien Bridge and the Van Cao-Ngoc Khanh-Lang-Hoa Lac urban railway line in Hanoi. He recommended the Group work with Hanoi and the Ministry of Transport to build the Van Cao-Hoa Lac urban railway line and collaborate with Vietnamese localities, especially northern border provinces, in their infrastructure projects.

 Mr. Chinh affirmed that the Vietnamese Government will always stands side by side with and creates the best possible conditions for Chinese enterprises, including CPCG, to carry out sustainable, effective, successful, and law-abiding investment and business projects.

Also on Thursday, PM Chinh received Yan Shengjun, Chairman of China Tianying Inc., a multinational corporation operating in low-carbon new energy, smart environmental services, and recycling. It has invested about 800 million USD in four waste-to-energy projects in Vietnam.

PM Chinh placed high value on Tianying’s effective and sustainable investment and other business activities around the world, including Vietnam. He also applauded its plan to expand its operations in the area of the environment and green energy in Vietnam.
He asked Tianying to continue supporting Vietnam by proposing new ideas and projects for investment and to consider partnerships in the country’s priority fields such as waste treatment, renewable energy, and hydrogen power.
