He was welcomed at the Pochentong airport by Cambodian Minister of Tourism Thong Khong, Cambodian Ambassador to Vietnam Prak Nguon Hong and Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Vu Quang Minh. The countries along the Mekong River - Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam – take turns organizing the biennial event. This year’s summit was co-organised by Cambodia and China.

The overall goal of the summit is to improve connections to build a responsible community and promote shared benefits in the Mekong sub-region.
