The hearing took place at the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) in The Hague. The Philippines' deputy presidential spokeswoman, Abigail Valte, said the Philippines has been able to present all of arguments to support the main thrust of its case, that the nine-dash line has no basis in international law. She added that her country has a good case and is hoping to secure a decision from the tribunal in about six months' time. The Philippines asked the PCA to affirm its right to areas within 200 nautical miles of its coastline, under the terms of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
